Our Companions Select Their Humans!
It’s true! We follow their lead, and let our furry friends pick their new families. Although humans initiate the meeting, it is our dogs/cats that make the final decision who they want to live with and give their love to.
When we see that our dog is not interacting well with a potential adopter, the dog/cat stays with us until his/her right family comes along, though if we see our dos’s eyes light up when they meet that certain someone, we know we have done our job!

All of our Dogs are:
- Vet checked
- Vaccinated
- Spayed or Neutered (if 8 months of age)
- Microchipped
- Current on heartworm preventative
- Dewormed
- Treated for fleas and ticks
- Heartworm tested (and treated if needed)
* Puppies will receive 3 rounds of shots prior to being adopted
Our adoption fees do not cover the average cost of our rescues. Donations above and beyond the adoption fee are greatly appreciated and help us continue to rescue the dogs most in need.
Once you’ve adopted a new pet into your family, all veterinary expenses are your responsibility for the life of your pet.
ADOPTION REQUIRMENTS
*You must reside within a reasonable driving distance from DFW
*You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt from Salvaged Souls Pet Rescue
*You must have a valid photo ID with your current address
*Home visit is required before any of our animals are placed in a forever home
*If renting, we require documentation from the Landlord/Manager to prove permission to have a pet
*We do not adopt “outdoor pets”. We do not adopt pets intended to be kept chained outdoors. If you are not willing to have your pet live inside your home, please do not apply.
*All adults in the household must meet with our team at the time of the home visit.
*We do not process adoption applications for “secondary adopters” an example of this is adopting a pet to be given to someone other than the applicant, as a gift.
*In cases where there are more than one application for a specific dog, we strive to place the animal in the home best suited for that particular animal. We will contact each applicant if this happens, to potentially match them with another dog in our program.
*Adoption fees are payable via cash, check, Venmo or Cash App
OUR ADOPTION PROCESS
To help ensure that we place our dogs in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process, prior to adopting a dog from Salvaged Souls Pet Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary.
First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Application. Second, a home visit, along with verifying vet references, is also required as part of our adoption process.
Once those steps have been completed, and the potential adopter has been approved, the Adoption Agreement can be signed by Salvaged Souls Pet Rescue and the adopting family, and the adoption donation can be made at that time. The adopting family will be given a copy of all medical records on your new pet, and the microchip will be changed to reflect the adopting family’s information.
RELINQUISHING AN ANIMAL
If for any reason you wish or need to return an animal adopted from Salvaged Souls Pet Rescue, we require you must return him or her to Salvaged Souls Pet Rescue, and not rehome, or turn in to a shelter.
We do not refund the adoption fee, but said animal will returr to our rescue program, and a new home will be found.
The animals in our rescue are always welcome back…we don’t ever want our dog to end up on the streets or at a city shelter ever again.
